There is a special place in New Mexico called Jemez Springs. It is especially sentimental to us because this is where Pania’s Grandparents live, also known as Todd’s parents. Christmas once you become a parent is such a magical experience. Todd and I always reminisce about our childhood holidays and what our favorite toys were. But this year has been the most magical yet as this was the first Christmas Pania was able to spend with her Grandparents and see family she has never met.
We arrived in New Mexico two weeks before Christmas and the weather was cold but no snow had fallen yet. Pania and I explored the area and took a quick trip down to Soda Dam, an iconic spot in The Jemez. We also played at the local park a few times where the historic bath house is located as well as a few shops and restaurants.
A week before Christmas the first snow fell and Pania was so excited to play in it for the first time. We bundled her up and headed outside with Todd’s snowboard. She had a blast gliding down the snowy driveway. Pania took to the snow immediately and was a natural on the snowboard. If you are ever in the area the closest spot to snowboard is Pajarito Mountain but my favorite nearby spot for kids is Ski Santa Fe, as they have a great bunny hill for learning.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and is enjoying the first month of the new year. It has been such a great start for us with all of our travels. I look forward to sharing more about our family adventures soon.
Lots of Aloha,
